Laser Hair Removal

Permanent Hair Reduction

Laser hair removal uses targeted light energy to permanently reduce unwanted hair — delivering smooth, hair-free skin without the ongoing time and cost of shaving, waxing, or threading.

Laser hair removal is one of the most popular and cost-effective aesthetic treatments available. By delivering precise pulses of laser energy into the hair follicle, we permanently damage the follicle's ability to produce hair — resulting in smooth, hair-free skin that requires no ongoing maintenance.

How Laser Hair Removal Works

Laser hair removal works on the principle of selective photothermolysis — the selective absorption of laser energy by the melanin (pigment) in the hair shaft and follicle. The laser energy is converted to heat, which damages the follicle's stem cells and prevents future hair growth.

Because the laser targets melanin, it is most effective on dark hair against lighter skin. However, modern laser systems including Nd:YAG lasers can safely and effectively treat darker skin tones. During your consultation, we'll assess your hair and skin type to select the optimal laser system and settings.

Why Multiple Treatments Are Required

Hair grows in cycles — anagen (active growth), catagen (transition), and telogen (resting). Laser hair removal is only effective on hairs in the active anagen phase, when the hair shaft is connected to the follicle and melanin is present throughout.

At any given time, only 20–30% of hairs in a treatment area are in the anagen phase. This is why multiple treatments spaced 4–8 weeks apart are required to treat all hairs as they cycle through the active growth phase. Most patients require 6–8 treatments for significant permanent reduction.

Treatment Areas

Laser hair removal can be performed on virtually any area of the body with unwanted hair. Common treatment areas include: Face (upper lip, chin, sideburns, neck). Underarms. Bikini line and Brazilian. Legs (full or partial). Arms. Back and chest. Stomach. Shoulders.

Preparing for Laser Hair Removal

To prepare for your laser hair removal treatment: Shave the treatment area 24 hours before your appointment (do not wax or pluck — the hair root must be present). Avoid sun exposure and self-tanner for 4 weeks before treatment. Discontinue retinoids in the treatment area 1 week before. Arrive with clean, product-free skin.

Am I a Good Candidate?

Laser hair removal is appropriate for adults who want to permanently reduce unwanted hair. It is most effective on dark hair, though modern laser systems can treat a range of hair and skin types. It is not effective on white, gray, or very light blonde hair. It is not recommended during pregnancy.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many treatments will I need?

+

Most patients require 6–8 treatments spaced 4–8 weeks apart for significant permanent reduction. Some areas and hair types may require additional sessions.

Does laser hair removal hurt?

+

Most patients describe the sensation as a rubber band snap or mild stinging. Our laser systems include cooling technology to minimize discomfort. Sensitive areas like the bikini line may be more uncomfortable than less sensitive areas.

Is the hair removal permanent?

+

Laser hair removal provides permanent reduction — not necessarily 100% permanent removal. Most patients achieve 70–90% permanent reduction after a full series of treatments, with any remaining hair being finer and lighter.

Can I get laser hair removal on dark skin?

+

Yes. We use Nd:YAG laser technology, which is safe and effective for darker skin tones. During your consultation, we'll assess your skin type and select the appropriate laser settings.
